A 50-year bartending veteran in the Bay Area, John Burton takes us on a journey through the history of San Francisco, its saloons and cocktails, meeting all of its fun, quirky and memorable characters along the way. From the founding of the Mission Dolores in 1776 to the dark days of Prohibition he tells a tale in character, as John David Hinshaw, a young man who makes his way from North Carolina to San Francisco in the 1800s and meets all of the key people of the Golden Age of cocktails and saloons. Complete with unique photos, saloon memorabilia, and some delicious cocktails made with the most popular spirit of the times in San Francisco (Pisco), this seminar will be entertaining and educational for anyone interested in cocktails and cocktail culture in the Bay Area. Includes cocktails featuring Pisco Porton.
